Olfato policial y nuevas tecnologías de la información: Transformaciones del trabajo policial en Córdoba, Argentina

Abstract

El artículo analiza algunos cambios y tensiones en el trabajo policial en la provincia de Córdoba, Argentina a partir de la incorporación de tecnologías de la información. En particular, re-construye el proceso de desarrollo e implementación de un programa de visualización de datos delictuales a partir de mapas de calor llamado SEDEPO lite, junto con otros elementos como el patrullaje inteligente, la utilización de handys y smartphones. Problematiza las tensiones y articulaciones entre, por un lado, saberes policiales y judiciales y, por el otro, saberes práctico-policiales y técnicos-estadísticos. De este modo, señala algunas resistencias aminoradas por el carácter “local” de su diseño e implementación.

This article analyzes some changes and tensions in police work based on the incorporation of information technologies in the Province of Córdoba, Argentina. In particular, we will re-build the process of developing and implementing a program to visualize criminal data from hotspots called SEDEPO lite, along with other elements such as the smart patrol, the use of smartphones and handys. Thus, we problematize the tensions and articulations that are observed around this program between, on the one hand, police and judicial knowledge and, on the other, practical-police and technical-statistical knowledge. In this way, we point out some resistance to it diminished by the "local" character of its design and implementation. The data presented are the result of a qualitative investigation focused on the analysis of in-depth interviews with different members of the Córdoba Police and observations in training instances and/or daily work.
