Abstract

Baruch de Spinoza y Pierre Bayle son típicos pensadores modernos que construyeron la tolerancia religiosa sobre la subjetivación gnóstica de la fe, el racionalismo teológico y el absolutismo del Estado. A pesar de que uno defiende la libertad de filosofar y otro los derechos de la conciencia errónea, en ambos sistemas la ley fundamental es la autoconservación del Estado, la moderna raison d'État.

Benedict of Spinoza and Pierre Bayle are typical modern thinkers who built religious tolerance on the Gnostic subjectivation of faith, the theological rationalism and the absolutism of the State. While one defends the freedom to philosophize and the other the rights of the erroneous conscience, in both systems the fundamental law is the self-conservation of the State, the modern raison d’État.
