Resumen
The breeding biology of Rufescent Tiger Heron Tigrisoma lineatum was studied in the Universidad Nacional del Litoral Ecological Reserve, Santa Fe, Argentina, over three breeding seasons. Nests were built 204.3 cm from the ground or the water surface. Clutch size was two and hatching success 80%. Eggs had a max. diameter of 59.1 ± 2.8 mm, a minimum diameter of 42.1 ± 0.8 and a mean mass of 58.0 ± 4.1g (n = 7). The nestling period was 40 days. The diet of nestlings included six taxa, but fishes (Synbranchus marmoratus) were predominant. Some 33% of nest failures were possibly due to predation.
