Mujeres nada más quieren: Condiciones de trabajo productivo y reproductivo de mujeres migrantes en el agro de Mendoza

Abstract

Este artículo analiza, desde una perspectiva feminista interseccional, las condiciones de trabajo productivo y reproductivo de mujeres migrantes que trabajan en el agro de Mendoza, Argentina, con la finalidad de evidenciar sus aportes a la producción y la reproducción social. Se exponen parte de los resultados de una investigación más amplia sobre experiencias de salud, enfermedad y cuidados de estas trabajadoras. En términos metodológicos, se trata de un estudio etnográfico que se apoyó especialmente en los relatos de vida de las mujeres y cuyo trabajo de campo se desarrolló entre 2014 y 2018 en Ugarteche, localidad mendocina dinamizada por la agricultura y las migraciones internas y limítrofes. Los principales hallazgos del trabajo muestran, por un lado, que para comprender las condiciones de trabajo de las mujeres es necesario considerar el continuo de actividades productivas y reproductivas en que se desarrolla su vida. Por otro, el peso que imprimen las desigualdades de clase, raciales y de estatus migratorio en las cargas domésticas y laborales de las trabajadoras.

From a feminist intersectional perspective, this article analyzes the conditions of productive and reproductive labor of migrant women working in agricultural fields of Mendoza, Argentina, with the aim to highlight their contributions to production and social reproduction. This paper present part of the results of a broader research work on the health, illness, and care of these women workers. The methodological strategy consisted of an ethnographic study especially built upon the women’s life stories. Fieldwork was carried out between 2014 and 2018 in Ugarteche, a Mendoza locality revitalized by agriculture and by both internal and bordering migrations. The main findings of the work show, on the one hand, in order to understand the working conditions of women, it is necessary to bear in mind the continuum of productive and reproductive activities where they build up their lives. On the other hand, the differential weight that class, race, and immigration status inequalities impose on the domestic and labor burdens of women workers.
