Resumen

The urbanization process is a worldwide phenomenon, which is deepened in Latin American cities, and is visualized, not only in the increase in the amount of population, but also in their territorial expansion. This process, in an absent state context, has strong negative impacts in terms of social segregation, spatial fragmentation and environmental degradation. The main objective of this work is to assess the interaction between urban expansion policy and collective transport policy in an urban area of great relevance in Argentina, Mendoza metropolitan area. This aim is framed in the consideration that collective transport structures the urban space and is configured as a necessary condition for the expansion of the city, giving the possibility of moving through it and thus accessing the various urban services, indispensable for the (re) production of daily life. The work is developed around the paradigm of sustainable development, while seeking the uniform and synergistic development of the dimensions that form the territory: natural, economic and social environment. This paradigm focused on cities is called sustainable urban development, and if it also focuses on mobility, it is called sustainable urban mobility. The methodology to develop this research has as an epistemological support the approach of complex systems, gathering qualitative, quantitative, comparative and dialectical analysis.
