Resumen
The objective of this article is the presentation of the PORT 21 System for forecasting waves and Operational Oceanography (OO), of application in theSouth American Region. First, the models used are explained, and the methodology adopted for their integration in PORT 21 is shown to facilitate the understanding of the system. Then, the cases studied to validate and calibratethe system are described; finally, the results so far obtained are summarized.A review of the input data required by the system is presented, describing the different models and sources of wind and wave data, some of which have been selected for routine use of the system. In the conclusions, a critical analysisis developed regarding the objectives achieved to date, and the tasks to be carried out in the future are described.
