Las representaciones gráficas en los exámenes de física universitaria

Abstract

En este trabajo se buscó realizar un primer estudio descriptivo del rol de las representaciones gráficas en los exámenes de un curso de física universitaria. A tal fin, se estudiaron los tipos de representaciones gráficas, los usos científicos y la cantidad de información de los gráficos presentes y el nivel de procesamiento necesario para responder de manera correcta a las actividades de evaluación. La metodología recurrió a un enfoque mixto. Se desarrolló especialmente una guía de observación de exámenes que permitió la identificación de las variables consideradas, propuestas a priori en base a los aportes teóricos que dieron sustento a esta investigación. El análisis de los datos recurrió a estadística descriptiva. Los principales resultados muestran que los gráficos son el tipo particular de representación más abundante en los exámenes analizados y se evidenció una marcada preponderancia de las actividades que para ser realizadas requerían acceder al procesamiento a nivel de la información conceptual.

In this work we sought to carry out a first descriptive study of the role of graphical representations in the exams of a university physics course. To this end, the types of graphical representations, the scientific uses and the amount of information of the present graphs and the level of processing necessary to respond correctly to the evaluation activities were studied. The methodology resorted to a mixed approach. An exam observation guide was specially developed that allowed the identification of the variables considered, a priori proposals based on the theoretical contributions that supported this research. The data analysis resorted to descriptive statistics. The main results show that the graphs are the most abundant particular type of representation in the exams analyzed and there was a marked preponderance of the activities that required access to the processing at the level of the conceptual information.
