dc.description.abstract
The typhlocybine microleafhopper tribe Dikraneurini McAtee, 1926 has 68 described genera and is distributed worldwide. In South America, the tribe his highly diverse but almost entirely undescribed because many genera and species appear to be largely restricted to the tropical rainforest canopy (Dietrich 2013). Specimens were collected by canopy fogging (Lucky et al. 2002) in Ecuador and by Malaise trapping in Bolivia, Peru and Argentina. Until now, 116 different morphospecies were identified, the vast majority undescribed, with many representing undescribed genera. The species are described and illustrations are provided to aid in their identification. Morphological characters were recorded according the nomenclature of Young (1952), Shcherbakov (1981, 1982), Rakitov (1998) and Dietrich (2005). 120 morphological characters were selected with their respective states each, to complete a database of 60 of the previously studied species and the new species, using program 3I (Dmitriev 2003). Geographic distribution data and images of habitus and genitalia were also incorporated. New species are described in the genera Buritia(2), Donidea (5), Neodikrella (2), Sarascarta (1), Alconeura (8), Dikrellidia (10), and Idona (1)
