La Carrera de Licenciatura en Geología en la Universidad Nacional de Tierra del Fuego, Antártida e Islas del Atlántico Sur

Abstract

La Universidad Nacional de Tierra del Fuego, Antártida e Islas del Atlántico Sur (UNTDF) y la Licenciatura en Geología surgieron en la última década. La universidad fue creada en 2009 (Ley 26.559) adoptando la infraestructura y carreras de la sede Ushuaia de la Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia San Juan Bosco. Esta nueva entidad se reestructura en institutos y crea nuevas carreras, entre ellas, la Licenciatura en Geología en 2012, dentro del Instituto de Ciencias Polares, Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (ICPA). La conformación del plantel docente, aún en formación, se inició con profesionales residentes en Ushuaia, investigadores del Centro Austral de Investigaciones Científicas (CADIC-CONICET). Posteriormente se incorporaron profesionales de otras partes del país, como así también de Ushuaia, tanto de CADIC como de otros entes provinciales. La primera cohorte fue de 21 estudiantes, en 2013. La tendencia es de un paulatino aumento en la matrícula, con 38 inscriptos en 2017. Los estudiantes más avanzados se encuentran cursando el último año de carrera

The Bachelor’s Degree in Geology at the National University of Tierra del Fuego, Antártida e Islas del Atlántico Sur (UNTDF). The UNTDF and its Bachelor in Geology emerged in the last decade. The university was created in 2009 adopting the infrastructure and careers of the National University of Patagonia San Juan Bosco at Ushuaia. This new entity restructured in institutes and created new careers, among them, the Bachelor in Geology in 2012, within the Instituto de Ciencias Polares, Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (ICPA, Institute of Polar Sciences, Environment and Natural Resources). The conformation of the teaching staff, still in formation, began with professionals from Ushuaia, researchers from the Austral Center for Scientific Research (CADIC-CONICET). Subsequently, professionals from other parts of the country joined, as well as from Ushuaia, both from CADIC and from other provincial entities. The first cohort was 21 students, in 2013. The trend is for a gradual increase in enrollment, with 38 enrolled in 2017. The most advanced students are in the final year of their career.
