'Yo no soy un erudito': Leopoldo Alas 'Clarín' y el canon del teatro clásico español

Abstract

Si bien Leopoldo Alas se dedicó en buena parte a la apreciación de su actualidad literaria, puede rastrearse en su praxis crítica una atención recurrente al problema del canon teatral áureo. De este modo la recepción del teatro clásico español por parte de Clarín permite revelar en algunos de sus juicios no sólo los modos en que pudo construir su opinión al respecto desligándose del territorio de lo erudito, sino también la manera en que logró incidir en la revisión del pasado dramático de España.

While Leopoldo Alas was devoted largely to the appreciation of his literary present, a recurring attention to the issue of the Golden Age Theatre canon can be noted in his critical works. His reception of classical Spanish theatre reveals not only the opinions he formulated on the matter, and his dissociation of himself from the terrain of the erudite, but also how he managed to influence the revision of the dramatic past of Spain.
