Fruit production in France and Argentina: globalizing sandards and labour markets

Abstract

In this chapter, we compare two export-orientated fruit production regions that are affected by the same quality requirements of the GlobalGAP satandard: Provence-Alpes-Cote d´Azur (PACA) in France and the valleys of the Río Negro in Argentina. The implementation of different systams of standarization contributes to a formalization of knowledge and to an increasing rationalization of administrative and production management. New divisions of labour and new competences arise, such as the creation of a new class of experts.
