El orientalismo de Ernesto Quesada: Argel, Túnez y Egipto en su vuelta al mundo de 1912-1913

Abstract

Este artículo tiene por objeto presentar la conferencia sobre la vuelta al mundo que en 1912 emprendiera Ernesto Quesada, miembro sobresaliente de la Generación argentina del 80. Del texto de la mencionada conferencia se han escogido los destinos visitados por este intelectual en el Norte de África. Algunos aspectos sobresalientes en el análisis del relato están constituidos por el "orientalismo" de su descripción de Argel, Túnez y Egipto, el rol del público femenino a quien está destinado y la peculiar personalidad del viajero.

The purpose of this article is to present the conference on Ernesto Quesada´s Orientalism. Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt in his trip around the world of 1912 - 1913. The purpose of this article is to present the conference on Ernesto Quesada´s trip around the world in 1912. He was an outstanding member of the Argentine Generation of the 80´s. From the text of the aforementioned conference the North African destinations visited by this intellectual have been chosen. Some outstanding aspects of the analysis of his travel account are the "orientalism" of his description of Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt, the role of the female public to whom it is intended and the peculiar personality of the traveler.
