El vínculo entre abuelos y nietos desde la perspectiva de los adolescentes

Abstract

Los cambios sociales y culturales, han dado lugar a un progresivo interés por la investigación de las relaciones entre abuelos y nietos. Objetivo: evaluar las funciones socioeducativas percibidas por los nietos adolescentes con respecto a sus abuelos y las actividades compartidas entre nietos adolescentes y abuelos. Materiales y método: investigación de tipo exploratoria y descriptiva. La muestra estuvo conformada por 210 nietos adolescentes de ambos géneros de entre 12 y 16 años (M = 14.45; DS = 0.85) pertenecientes a ciudades de la provincia de Entre Ríos, Argentina. Resultados: los resultados obtenidos muestran la preponderancia que se le ha otorgado al vínculo con la abuela materna en relación con los cuatro abuelos. Los adolescentes mayoritariamente autoperciben interés y preocupación por parte de los abuelos en cuanto a sus estudios y alas actividades que realizan, como también valoran sus consejos y opiniones, y además aprenden de ellos. Asimismo, si bien los adolescentes valoran la opinión de los abuelos como importantes para ellos, en ningún caso es más importante que el de los padres. Se evidenció una gran variedad de actividades compartidas, tanto para varones como para mujeres las actividades compartidas con más frecuencia estuvieron relacionadas con conversar, dialogar y compartir algunas comidas. Conclusión: se reflexiona en este trabajo sobre el vínculo de abuelidad abordado como un ejemplo de diálogo intergeneracional y de práctica educativa intergeneracional.

Social and cultural changes have led to a progressive interest in the investigation of the relationships between grandparents and grandchildren. Objective: to evaluate the socio-educational functions perceived by adolescent grandchildren with respect to their grandparents and the shared activities between adolescent grandchildren and grandparents. Materials and method: exploratory and descriptive research. The sample comprised 210 adolescent grandchildren of both genders, between 12 and 16 years old (M = 14.45; DS = 0.85) belonging to cities in the province of Entre Ríos, Argentina. Results: the results obtained show the importance that has been given to the bond with the maternal grandmother, as preponderant in the relationship with the four grandparents. Adolescents mostly self-perceive interest and concern on the part of their grandparents regarding their studies and the activities they carry out, as they also value their advice and opinions, and learn from them as well. Furthermore, although adolescents consider their grandparents' opinion important to them, in no case is their grandparents’ advice more important than that of their own parents’. A great variety of shared activities was evidenced both for men and women being the most frequently shared activities the ones related to talking, having a conversation and sharing some meals. Conclusion: this study reflects on the bond of grandparenting addressed as an example of intergenerational dialogue and intergenerational educational practice.
