Periódicos no ilustrados: Una lectura de la prensa rioplatense del siglo XIX

Abstract

La bibliografía especializada en el periodismo decimonónico rioplatense concibe a la prensa como un aliado incondicional de la Ilustración. Sin embargo, en la región, durante la primera mitad del siglo xix, salieron a la luz una serie de publicaciones que se construyeron a cierta distancia del programa ilustrado. El objetivo del artículo es hacer una caracterización de ese tipo periodístico a partir de tres papeles porteños: el Despertador Teofilantrópico Misticopolítico, El Torito de los Muchachos y La Bruja o la Ave Nocturna.

The bibliography specialized in nineteenth-century rioplatense journalism conceives the press as an unconditional ally of the Enlightenment. In the region, however, a series of publications emerged during the first half of the nineteenth-century, which were constructed at some distance from the enlightened program. The objective of the article is to outline a characterization of this type of newspaper. In order to achieve this goal, I address the following titles published in Buenos Aires: the Despertador Teofilantrópico Misticopolítico, El Torito de los Muchachos and La Bruja o la Ave Nocturna.
