Configuración de la industria de bioenergía eléctrica y térmica en Argentina: ¿dónde, cuándo, cómo y quién?

Abstract

La bioeconomía es un constructo político en construcción con implicancias productivas, ambientales y sociales en Argentina, así como en otros países. La energía y la alimentación son considerados sectores claves para motorizar su difusión en el país debido a su posibilidad de intensificar el uso de la biomasa para producir bioenergías y bioproductos, en articulación con otras industrias.En este marco, el trabajo analiza la conformación y configuración actual de la industria de la bioenergía con fines eléctricos y térmicos en el país, a partir del estudio de las empresas que la integran y las condiciones del entorno que incidieron en su decisión de invertir en este sector. El estudio se propone indagar en las características que comparten las firmas que han desarrollado las capacidades necesarias para participar en esta industria incipiente y cómo estas condiciones han cambiado en el tiempo.

The bioeconomy is a political construct which has productive, environmental, and social implications in Argentina and other countries. Energy and food are considered key sectors to promote the diffusion of the bioeconomy in the country due to their possibility of intensifying the use of biomass to produce bioenergy and bioproducts in coordination with other industries. The study analyzes the creation and current configuration of the bioenergy industry with electrical and thermal purposes in Argentina, relying on the study of the companies that take part in this industry and the environmental conditions that have influenced their investment decisions. It enquires about the characteristics of the firms that have developed the capabilities to enter this emerging industry and how these conditions have changed over time.
