Políticas del policial: sobre La hija del criptógrafo de Pablo De Santis

Abstract

In this work, I analyze La hija del criptógrafo (2017), by Pablo De Santis, attending to four aspects of the novel. First, I describe and analyze the use of detective fiction based upon the thematization of the genre itself. Second, I inscribe the novel in a corpus of Argentine campus novels and attend to the representations of scholars in it. Third, I focus on the political conjuncture of the 1970s and the way it is portrayed, focusing particularly on the political effervescence and the immediate consequences of the last dictatorship in Argentina. Fourth, and finally, I review some of the hermetic settings –predominantly masculine– of De Santis’ works of fiction.
