Lo social, lo deportivo y lo político en tensión. Un recorrido por la historia del Club Universitario de La Plata

Abstract

El presente artículo recorre la historia del Club Universitario de La Plata, un tradicional club vinculado a un sector de las clases medias platenses. Se describen sus características (orígenes, requisitos para asociarse, modo de gobierno, formato jurídico), y se rastrean un conjunto de tensiones que desde sus inicios se articulan en la cotidianeidad del club, para observar cómo se fueron creando sentidos específicos en torno a “lo social”, “lo político” y “lo deportivo”, que configuran dimensiones que a lo largo de la historia se tensionan y se combinan dando lugar a un conjunto de valores morales que caracterizan los modos de vincularse de los socios y deportistas con el club y entre sí. Se profundiza sobre la noción de “prescindencia política” que se articula con un imaginario acerca de la “función social del deporte”, que lejos de contradecirse, dan forma a una manera particular de relacionarse con la política. Reponer la especificidad de estas relaciones permite preguntarnos por los vínculos que los clubes han mantenido con el Estado en los distintos momentos históricos, complejizando las maneras dicotómicas en que se ha leído la relación sociedad civil/Estado en la historia argentina.

This article traces the history of the University Club of La Plata, a traditional club linked to the middle class of La Plata. Its characteristics are described (origins, requirements to associate, mode of government, legal format), and some tensions, that from their beginnings are articulated in the daily life of the club, are traced to observe how specific senses were created around " the social "," the political "and" the sporting ", which shape dimensions that throughout history are mixed allowing moral values that characterize the ways of linking associates and athletes with the club and each other. The notion of "political detachment" is deepened, which is articulated with an imaginary about the "social function of sport", which, far from contradicting itself, shapes a particular way of relating to politics. Replacing the specificity of these relationships allows us to ask about the links that the clubs have maintained with the State in the different historical moments, complicating the dichotomous ways in which the relationship civil society / State has been read in Argentine history.
