El criollismo en la gestación del museo de motivos populares José Hernández (1939-1949)

Abstract

Este artículo explora la difusión del criollismo durante el proceso de gestación y los primeros años de funcionamiento del Museo de Motivos Populares Argentinos José Hernández. Se considera que la institución constituye una ventana significativa para analizar la vigencia de la representación del gaucho como símbolo de la argentinidad. Al mismo tiempo, se explora cómo se articularon las evocaciones gauchescas con las manifestaciones culturales indígenas que fueron configurando un perfil híbrido para el nuevo museo en formación. Para la investigación se han pesquisado todas las publicaciones del órgano de difusión del museo junto con las memorias internas y las revistas de la Asociación Folklórica Argentina. Además, se trabajó sobre el archivo particular de Carlos Daws, el tradicionalista ligado a las dos instituciones mencionadas cuya colección pasaría a constituir el patrimonio central del museo.

This article explores the spread of criollismo during the gestation process and the ! rst years of operation of the Museum of Popular Argentine Motives José Hernández. We believe that the institution is a signi! cant window to analyze the continuity of the gaucho as a national symbol. At the same time, it explores how the gaucho evocations were articulated with the indigenous cultural manifestations that were forming a hybrid pro! le for the new museum. For the investigation, we have consulted all the publications of the bulletin of the museum together with the internal memories and the journals of the Argentine Folkloric Association. In addition, we worked on the particular ! le of Carlos Daws, the traditionalist linked to the two mentioned institutions whose collection would become the central patrimony of the museum.
