La muerte, los ritos, lo sagrado: Prácticas funerarias entre los habitantes de la costa sur de la Laguna Mar Chiquita y llanuras adyacentes en el holoceno tardío (Córdoba, Argentina)

Abstract

El objetivo del presente trabajo es abordar el estudio de las costumbres mortuorias en el sur de Laguna Mar Chiquita y las llanuras adyacentes a partir del análisis exhaustivo del registro bioarqueológico local de los últimos 4000 años, del cual se dispone de información cronológica absoluta, y cultural para contextualizar los hallazgos. Interesa destacar cambios y continuidades, considerando las modalidades de entierro, la disposición de los cuerpos y su distribución en el paisaje, considerando para ello la cronología de las muestras, la composición biológica de la muestra, la edad y el sexo. Se calcularon prevalencias para distintas variables que permiten describir las prácticas mortuorias, y se aplicó la prueba de chi cuadrado para evaluar la significación estadística de las diferencias observadas. Si bien se observan continuidades que hablan de la pervivencia de ciertas prácticas, ciertas sutilezas respecto a la orientación de los cuerpos o la posición de los miembros inferiores o superiores podría estar indicando algunos cambios respecto a la organización social de estos grupos, con rituales que tuvieron duración acotada en el tiempo y no requirieron traslado o reubicación de sus muertos.

The aim of the present work is to deepen the study of the mortuary practices in the south coast of the Mar Chiquita lagoon and adjacent plains from the exhaustive analysis of the local bioarchaeological record of the last 4000 years which counts with absolute chronological and cultural information useful to contextualize the findings. It is interesting to highlight changes and continuities, taking into account the modalities of burials, the disposition of the bodies and their distribution across the landscape, considering the chronology of the samples, the biological composition of the sample, the age and sex. Prevalences were calculated for different variables that allow describing the mortuary practices, and the chi-square test was applied to evaluate the statistical significance of the differences observed. While there are continuities that may reflect the survival of certain practices, some subtleties regarding the orientation of the bodies or the position of the lower or upper limbs could indicate some changes regarding the social organization of these groups, with short term rituals which did not require relocation of the dead.
