Resumen
The genus Galea Meyen, 1833 includes at leastfive species of terrestrial, diurnal and herbivorous caviesthat occupy grasslands and rocky scrub areas at both highand low elevations in South America. According to theavailable molecular and morphological data, Galea comesThomas, 1919 is restricted to highland areas above 2000 min southern Bolivia and northwestern Argentina. Its distributionalrange as well as its morphological distinctivenessfrom other closely related species (Galea leucoblepharaand Galea musteloides) is poorly documented. Using bothqualitative and quantitative morphological traits, we providedan emended diagnosis for G. comes. In addition, weadded six new locality records to its known distribution
