Los que trabajan sólo por dinero. Escenas del neoliberalismo

Abstract

En la obra de Simmel es posible encontrar el retrato de aquellos que trabajan solo por dinero. Se trata de un tipo de sujetos “que viven de las oportunidades más diversas y casuales”. Se destaca así, la existencia en la modernidad de profesiones que no tienen otro contenido que pueda establecerse fuera de ganar dinero. Procuran obtener dinero de una manera completamente inespecífica. Son profesiones a las que les falta la idea de “tener una profesión”, para las cuales están predestinados los seres más desarraigados, aquellos cuyos trabajos lejos de ser motivo de realización personal, están orientadas solo por la cantidad de dinero. Este artículo está dividido en dos partes. En la primera, sitúa esta tipicidad en el contexto de una sociología de la alienación, que parte del problema de la libertad como una cuestión central. Aquí, se propone: i) explorar las formas alienantes en que la inversión entre medios y fines opera en los sujetos que trabajan solo por dinero, destacando los componentes provenientes de Hegel y Marx; y, ii) resaltar la conexión entre esta tipicidad y el estilo de vida del capitalismo moderno; así como su vinculación con una situación de predominio de un tipo de libertad negativa por encima de otro de tipo realizativo. En la segunda parte, se sostiene como hipótesis, la validez actual de esta tipicidad como una figura característica de nuestra contemporaneidad del capitalismo neoliberal. Para tales fines, iii) realiza un contrapunto con figuras actuales, como el “auto emprendedor”, según su caracterización en bibliografías recientes sobre la cultura del neoliberalismo; y, iv) contrasta esta tipicidad simmeliana con ejemplos de vidas empíricas actuales, surgidas de entrevistas a seres cuyo trabajos, alejados de cualquier idea específica de vocación, parecen orientarse exclusivamente a la búsqueda de dinero.

In the work of Simmel, it is possible to find the portrait of those who work only for money. It is a kind of subjects, “that live from the most diverse and casual opportunities”. It stands out thus, the existence in the modernity of professions that have no content that can be established outside to earn money. They seek to procure money in a completely non-specific way. Professions to which they lack the idea of “to have a profession”, for which the most uprooted beings are specially predisposed, those whose works far from being motive of personal fulfillment, are orientated only by the amount of money. This article is divided into two parts. In the first, it places this tipicity in the context of a sociology of alienation, which places the problem of freedom as a central question. Here, it is proposed: i) to explore the alienating ways in which the investment between means and ends operates on the subjects that work only for money, relieving the elements from Hegel and Marx; and, ii) to highlight the connection between this tipicity and the lifestyle of modern capitalism; as well as its linkage with a situation of predominance of a type of negative freedom above another of type realizable. In the second part, it is supported as hypothesis, the current validity of this tipicity, as a typical figure of our contemporaneousness of neoliberal capitalism. To such ends, iii) it performs a counterpoint with current figures, such as the “self entrepreneur”, according to its characterization in recent bibliographies on the culture of neoliberalism; and, iv) it contrasts this simmelian tipicity with examples of current empirical lives, which arise from a survey of beings whose work away from any specific idea of vocation, seem to be oriented exclusively towards the search for money.
