Sobre El viaje a Nicaragua de Rubén Darío

Abstract

El artículo está centrado en el análisis de El viaje a Nicaragua e Intermezzo tropical publicado por Rubén Darío en 1909. El libro fue el resultado de la compilación de once crónicas aparecidas en el diario La Nación de Buenos Aires, en las que Darío refiere el viaje realizado a su país a fines de 1907. En este contexto, el análisis se realiza desde tres perspectivas: la historia del texto, que contempla las modificaciones, supresiones y adiciones operadas al convertir las crónicas en libro –en particular el agregado de los poemas que componen el Intermezzo Tropical y su vinculación con la familia Debayle−; la incidencia de la historia contemporánea en el texto –el gobierno de José Santos Zelaya fundamentalmente−; y la historia colonial dentro del texto, que considera la reescritura del relato mítico-fundacional del encuentro entre el cacique Nicaragua y el conquistador González De Ávila, inicio del proceso colonizador en la región. La reescritura liga este relato con la cronística de Indias y el llamado “encuentro de Cajamarca”, mientras que remite al presente de la escritura: la puja por el control de espacios marítimos geopolíticamente estratégicos, el derrocamiento de Zelaya y la injerencia de Estados Unidos en los asuntos centroamericanos.

The article is centred on the analysis of El viaje a Nicaragua e Intermezzo tropical published by Rubén Darío on 1909. The book was the result of the compilation of eleven chronicles appeared in the diary La Nacion of Buenos Aires, in which Darío recounts the trip realized to his country at the end of 1907. The analysis is realized from three perspectives: the history of the text, which contemplates the modifications, suppressions and additions produced when turns the chronicles into book - especially individual the attaché of the poems that compose Intermezzo Tropical and his links with the family Debayle-; the incident of the contemporary history in the text - the government of Jose Santos Zelaya fundamentally-; and the colonial history inside the text, which analyzes the rewriting of the mythical statement - foundational of the meeting between the chief Nicaragua and the conqueror Gonzalez de Avila, beginning of the colonizing process in the region. The rewriting ties this statement with the chronicles of The Indies and so called "Cajamarca's meeting ", at the time that sends to the present of the writing: the bid for the control of maritime spaces strategic, Zelaya's overthrow and the interference of The United States in the Central American matters.
