Abstract

El artículo trata el tema de la independencia norteamericana poniendo énfasis en el litigio político-constitucional que dio origen al enfrentamiento entre las colonias y la madre patria. El planteo enfoca la cuestión de la monarquía tradicional inglesa y busca mostrar cómo la irrupción de una nueva forma de Estado alteró las relaciones políticas en que se había basado el Imperio británico hasta comienzos del s. XVIII.

The article deals with the issue of American independence, emphasizing the political constitutional litigation that gave rise to the confrontation between the colonies and the mother country. The approach focuses on the question of traditional English monarchy and seeks to show how the emergence of a new form of State altered the political relations on which the British Empire had been based until the early XVIII century.
