Genealogía estructuralista de la Escuela de Tartu

Abstract

El presente artículo presenta comparativamente distintas acepciones y prácticas estructuralistas durante el siglo XX y delinea, operativamente, dos grandes tradiciones: la occidental y la ruso-eslava y sus interrelaciones recíprocas. Si aceptamos que «la estructura no es la simple suma de sus partes» hay funciones que emergen de esta estructura y que no son ya simplemente reconducibles a ellas. Pero ambas posturas (la «esencialista» ―estructura esencia―y la «modelizante» ―estructura modelo―) sostienen el concepto de «estructura» o de «serie de estructuras» dadoras de significados más o menos estables y que son la clave de la comprensión teórica y de la pragmática de lo social. En tal sentido, la tradición estructuralista franco-norteamericana tendió a naturalizar la estructura en tanto estructura esencia a diferencia de la ruso-eslava que intentó abrirse a la dimensión semántica y extra-estructural. A partir de algunas observaciones y críticas comunes, se aborda la especificidad de la obra de raigambre estructuralista de la Escuela de Tartu y particularmente de Juri Lotman, quien desde una visión anti-formalista concluirá que producir significados implica también producir y naturalizar ideología ―y eventualmente, aniquilarla también― mediante el desarrollo de una semiótica general o culturología.

This article presents comparatively different meanings and structuralist practices during the twentieth century and outlines operationally, two great traditions: the Western, and the Russian-Slavic one and their reciprocal interrelations.If we accept that «structure is not simply the sum of its parts» there are functions that emerge from this structure and are no longer simply traceable back to them. But both positions (the «essentialist»― essencestructure ― and the «modeling» system― model-structure― ) support the concept of «structure» or «series of structures» as givers of more or less stable meanings, being the key to theoretical comprehension and social pragmatics.In this regard, the Franco-American structuralist tradition tended to naturalize the structure as essence structure unlike the Russian-Slavic tradition that tried to open up to the semantic and extra structural dimension. After some observations and common criticisms, there is an approach to the specificity of the work of the structuralist tradition of the School of Tartu and particularly that of Juri Lotman's, who from an anti-formalist vision will conclude that producing meanings also involves producing and naturalizing ideology ―and eventually , annihilating it as well― by developing a general semiotics and culturology.
