Abstract

El culto a la Difunta Correa es hoy el fenómeno social-religioso de devoción popular más importante de la República Argentina. Este artículo se centra en la leyenda de esta mujer sencilla, cuya muerte es símbolo de amor y entrega familiar, y en el principal milagro asociado a su figura: seguir amamantando a su hijo, para mantenerlo con vida, una vez que ella ya ha muerto.

The cult towards the Difunta Correa is nowadays the most important social-religious phenomenon of popular devotion in Argentina. This article is focused on the legend of this simple woman, whose death is a symbol of love, and in the main miracle associated to her figure: breastfeeding her son even after her death.
