Argentina, tierra de promisión. Una interpretación historiográfica de las relaciones entre la historia rural y la historia ambiental

Abstract

La historia ambiental puede pasar revista a la propia historia argentina y lade su desarrollo capitalista, prestando atención a las formas de uso y explotaciónde la naturaleza a lo largo del tiempo y el espacio. Esta perspectiva nos impulsaa repensar los ciclos económicos del país en clave ambiental, para identificarlos tipos de sociedad que se formaron con las explotaciones de los diferentesproductos naturales y sus consecuencias. En muchos casos, la violencia contra lanaturaleza estuvo acompañada y propició la violencia contra los seres humanos.Por lo tanto, el objetivo de este trabajo será el de analizar cómo las diferentestradiciones que constituyeron el corpus principal de la historia rural argentinainterpretaron, incorporaron o percibieron de manera explícita o tácita las relacionessociedad y ambiente en sus explicaciones acerca del desarrollo rural argentino;cuales fueron sus progresos, tendencias y comprensiones complejas.

Argentinean history can be looked at through its own environmental history and the history of its capitalist development, paying attention to the ways that nature has been used and exploited throughout time and space. This perspective drives us to reconsider the economic cycles of the country on an environmental level. In order to identify the types of societies which were formed with the exploitation of different natural products and their consequences. In many cases, the maltreatment of nature was accompanied by and promoted violence against people. Therefore the objective of this article is to analyze how the different traditions that comprised the main body of rural Argentinean history interpreted, incorporated and perceived -both in an explicit and tacit manner- the relationship between society and environment in their explanation about the development of rural Argentina; regarding their advancements, inclinations and complex understandings.
