Patrimonio Mundial y Comunidad Local: Opiniones confrontadas sobre Atapuerca, Burgos (España)

Abstract

En este trabajo se presentan las opiniones divergentes de los habitantes de dos localidades adyacentes al sitio arqueológico del Patrimonio Mundial “Sierra de Atapuerca”. Los resultados mostraron diferencias entre los habitantes de las dos ciudades sobre las ventajas y desventajas de la declaración de la UNESCO, la gestión realizada por la administración regional y una evaluación diferente de los beneficios del turismo. Debido al diferente perfil social de ambas poblaciones, este estudio muestra, por primera vez, qué políticas deben aplicarse para satisfacer las diversas sensibilidades e involucrar a los habitantes en la construcción de su patrimonio y en la gestión de su futuro. En Atapuerca, la socialización y la democratización del patrimonio no deben ignorar la opinión de los habitantes del sitio patrimonial.

In this work the divergent opinions of the inhabitants of two localities adjacent to the archaeological site of the World Heritage “Sierra de Atapuerca” are presented. The results showed differences between the neighbors of both towns on the advantages and disadvantages of the UNESCO declaration, the management carried out by the regional administration and a different evaluation of the benefits of tourism. Due to the different social profile of both populations, this study shows for the first time that policies must be applied that satisfy the diverse sensitivities to involve the inhabitants in the construction of their heritage and the management of their future. In Atapuerca, the socialization and democratization of heritage must not ignore the opinion of the residents of the heritage site.
