Un proyecto innovador en una hacienda de añil del Tucumán (fines del siglo XVIII)

Abstract

Las lógicas empresarias que explotaron y comercializaron a fines del siglo XVIII el añil en la región tucumana, pueden reconocerse en los expedientes históricos (licencias gubernamentales y correspondencia de comerciantes), del proyecto de Francisco Gavino Arias en su hacienda San Francisco de Vista Alegre en el Valle de Cobos. Este trabajo identifica el rol empresarial, y describe el funcionamiento, las técnicas para el cultivo, y la configuración de los mercados, destacando la siembra y fabricación del añil en una zona de la América meridional donde historiográficamente su producción no ha sido considerada un tema relevante.

The entrepreneurial logics which exploited and commercialized indigo at the end of the 18th century in the Tucuman region can be recognized in the historical records (governmental licenses and traders correspondence), of the project of Francisco Gavino Arias at his country estate (hacienda) San Francisco de Vista Alegre in the Cobos Valley. This work identifies the business role, and describes the operation, the cultivation techniques, and the market configuration. Highlighting the sowing and the indigo production in a South American area where historiographically the production has not been considered a relevant topic.
