Sobre arquitectos y arquitectura moderna en Mendoza, 1930-1960

Abstract

Avanzado el siglo XX, entre 1930 y fines de los años ’40, la ciudad de Mendoza manifestó un acelerado proceso de urbanización y crecimiento: nuevos barrios, construcciones públicas y privadas e importantes residencias particulares, contribuyeron en la urbanización de la ciudad. A pesar del costo de algunos materiales básicos como el cemento y el hierro, la construcción se mantuvo como industria floreciente en Mendoza y el resto del país. Esa intensa actividad constructiva, que había triplicado su volumen hacia 1945 respecto de los años ’30, fue absorbida en la ciudad, por un importante grupo de profesionales, constructores y empresas. Pretendemos en este trabajo, revisar algunos autores y sus obras, con el objetivo de comenzar a revelar las singularidades de la producción local. Nos detendremos en un grupo, que impulsó nuevos conceptos y probó nuevos lenguajes y que consideramos representativo y ejemplificador de la generación de arquitectos modernos que actuaron en Mendoza entre 1930 y 1960.

Advanced the 20th century, between 1930 and ends of the years '40, the city of Mendoza demonstrated an intensive process of urbanization and growth: new neighbourhoods, public and private constructions and important particular residences, they contributed in the urbanization of the city. In spite of the cost of some basic materials like the cement and the iron, the construction was kept as flourishing industry in Mendoza and the rest of the country. This intense constructive activity, which had trebled his volume about 1945 respect of the years '30, was absorbed in the city, for an important group of professionals, builders and companies. We try in this work, to check some authors and his works, with the aim to begin to reveal the singularities of the local production. We will detain in a group, which stimulated new concepts and proved new languages and which we consider to be representative of the generation of modern architects who acted in Mendoza between 1930 and 1960.
