Cuerpos del trabajo: “Yo me crié en la Tarefa, no sé hacer otra cosa de trabajo, cuando me di cuenta, ya era tarefera ”. Misiones, Argentina

Abstract

La cosecha de yerba mate es uno de los empleos con mayor concentración temporal de obreros rurales -tareferos/as- (hombres, mujeres y niños) de la Provincia de Misiones, Argentina. Se estima que la actividad de cosecha, moviliza entre 15.000 y 30.000 obreros/as rurales por temporada. La producción primaria de yerba mate organiza el más extenso de los mercados agrícolas laborales en Misiones, el cual es caracterizado por altos niveles de empleo ?informal?, con modalidades de estadías laborales insalubres y transportes sumamente peligrosos, con elevada presencia de formas de remuneración a destajo, con bonos de compras o directamente alimentos y por el salario más bajo dentro de la cadena yerbatera. El presente trabajo tiene como fin analizar los cuerpos de los tareferos/as como apropiados, vividos y reproducidos generación tras generación, conforme a los capitales con los que cuentan los agentes. Se procura mostrar cómo a través de dichos cuerpos hablan las historias pasadas, las condiciones de trabajo, los hábitos de consumo, la clase social, en fin, los habitus.

The “yerba mate” crop is one of the jobs with the highest concentration of temporary rural workers –tareferos/as– (men, women and children) in the Province of Misiones, Argentina. It is estimated that the “yerba mate” harvest mobilizes between 15.000 and 30.000 rural workers per season. The primary production of “yerba mate” organizes the largest agricultural labor market in Misiones, characterized by high levels of informal employment, with unhealthy working conditions and extremely dangerous ways of transport, with remuneration taking the form of piecework pay, with vouchers or food, and by the lowest salary within the “yerba mate” production line. The present work aims to analyze the bodies of the tareferos/as as appropriate, lived and reproduced generation after generation, according to the capitals that they have. It tries to show how through these bodies they told the past histories, the conditions of work, the habits of consumption, the social class, in short, the habitus.
