Primer registro de Megastigmus transvaalensis (Hussey) (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea: Torymidae) en el Noroeste de la Argentina. Incidencia sobre drupas de Schinus areira L. (Sapindales: Anacardiaceae)

Abstract

En estudios realizados con el fin de conocer la entomofauna asociada a Schinus areira L., se detectó la presencia de una especie de Megastigmus Dalman (Hymenoptera:Chalcidoidea: Torymidae) que afecta los frutos de esta planta. Los objetivos del presente trabajo fueron: identificar la especie de Megastigmus y los morfotipos del macho, determinar el porcentaje de infestación en las drupas de S. areira y conocer la distribución de esta especie en zonas de altura de Jujuy (Argentina). Se recolectaron frutos de S. areira, entre los años 2007 y 2012, en cinco sitios de la provincia de Jujuy, ubicados entre 2300 y 2800 msnm. En laboratorio emergieron adultos de M. transvaalensis (Hussey). Este es el primer registro para el Noroeste de la Argentina, con valores de infestación entre 6,29 y 26,84 %. Se evaluó la proporción sexual en dos sitios: Maimará y Tilcara, con un predominio en ambos lugares de machos sobre hembras (2,7: 1 y 2,1:1, respectivamente) con representantes de tres morfotipos de machos (A: macho amarillo; I: macho intermedio y N: macho negro), siendo el más abundante el morfotipo macho amarillo (80 %). Esta especie exótica está ampliamente distribuida en zonas semiáridas de Jujuy en relación a la distribución de su planta hospedadora.

In studies designed to investigate the entomofauna associated to Schinus areira L. we detected the presence of a species of Megastigmus Dalman (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea: Torymidae) which affects the fruits of this plant. The objectives of this study were: to identify the species of Megastigmus and the morphotypes of males, to determine the percentage of infestation in drupes of S. areira and to evaluate the distribution of this species in high altitude areas of Jujuy (Argentina). Fruits of S. areira were collected between 2007 and 2012, at five sites in the Jujuy province, located between 2300 and 2800 m. The adults of M. transvaalensis (Hussey) emerged in the laboratory. This is the first record for nor thwestern Argentina, with infestation values between 6.29 and 26.48 %. We evaluated the sex ratios at two sites, Maimará and Tilcara, with a predominance of males over females (2.7:1 and 2.1:1, respectively) and three morphotypes of males (ŸA: yellow male; ŸI: intermediate male and ŸN: black male), the yellow male morphotype being the most abundant (80 %). This exotic species is widely distributed in semi-arid zones of Jujuy related to the distribution of the host plant.
