La mujer y el sexting: el cuerpo y la mirada en las nuevas prácticas de exhibición sexual

Abstract

El objetivo de nuestro trabajo es analizar algunas características de una práctica cada vez más extendida: la exhibición sexual del cuerpo en medios digitales. Conocida mediáticamente como sexting, esta actividad consiste en sacarse fotos o filmarse en situaciones eróticas y compartirlas con otras personas a través de un teléfono inteligente. La problemática de género atraviesa esta moda de múltiples formas; centraremos nuestra atención en las miradas que se posan sobre la figura femenina y a cómo debe ser el cuerpo que se muestra. Realizamos una serie de entrevistas en profundidad a mujeres de diversas edades que se consideran practicantes de sexting, para poder conocer cómo se realiza esta práctica, qué características tiene, qué sienten las mujeres al realizarla, cuáles son sus expectativas, miedos y objetivos. Describiremos dos rasgos que nos impactaron particularmente: el lugar que la propia mirada y la de los demás ocupa en el sexting y cómo aparece retratado el cuerpo femenino en estas imágenes. Presentaremos una serie de viñetas extraídas de las entrevistas para reflexionar sobre lo que allí se dice; para ello, haremos pie en diversos autores provenientes de la filosofía, el psicoanálisis y la sociología.

The objective of our investigation is to analyze the characteristics of an increasingly widespread practice: the sexual exhibition of the body in digital media. Known in media as sexting, this activity consists of taking one´s photos or filming in erotic situations and sharing them with other people through a smartphone. The problem of gender goes through this trend in multiple ways; we will focus our attention on the gazes that are placed on the female figure and how the body should be shown. We conducted a series of in-depth interviews with women of different ages who consider themselves to be sexting practitioners in order to know how this practice is performed, what characteristics it has, what women feel when doing it, what their expectations, fears and goals are. We will describe two features that particularly impacted us: the place that one's gaze and that of others occupies in sexting and how the female body is portrayed in these images. We will present a series of vignettes taken from the interviews to reflect on what is said there; for this, we will work with authors coming from the philosophy, the psychoanalysis and the sociology.
