D’Annunzio y el último humanismo: las Elegie romane

Abstract

Entre las variadas consideraciones de que ha sido objeto la poesía europea de fines del siglo XIX resulta a menudo visible la falta de un enfoque metodológico capaz de observar la coherencia interna y el alcance transnacional que el fenómeno es capaz de contener. Una relectura de grandes segmentos de ese corpus aporta las claves para vislumbrar en él la remisión a códigos y referentes de naturaleza altamente aristocratizantes. En este trabajo, se particulariza dicho enfoque crítico en las Elegie romane (1892) de Gabriele D’Annunzio, volumen lírico en el cual el poeta se vuelve el portavoz de una clase social que ha perdido su pasado esplendor, en la Italia liberal del “Risorgimento”.

Among the different considerations the European poetry of the 19th century hasbeen subjected to, it often results visible the lack of a methodological view able toshow the internal coherence and transnational reach which in fact contains. A secondreading of the corpus enables us to see the references to codes and quotations of ahighly aristocratic nature. In this essay, the critical view is particularized in Elegieromane (1892) by Gabriele D’Annunzio, a lyrical volume in which the poet himselfbecomes the spokesperson of a social class that has lost its past glamour in theliberal Italy of the Risorgimento.
