Política y planificación lingüísticas en la aviación dentro de Argentina

Abstract

Este artículo presenta un ejemplo de cómo la política y la planificación lingüísticas se producen no sólo a un nivel de comunidades nacionales o regionales, sino también dentro de ambientes específicos dentro de la sociedad. En el caso de la aviación, estas actividades presentan una dimensión nacional y una supranacional, y su objetivo es establecer usos lingüísticos seguros y eficientes. Analizamos, en primer lugar, los reglamentos que pueden identificarse en el ambiente bajo estudio a nivel internacional y dentro de Argentina (Pit Corder 1993, Fasold 1996, Calvet 1997). Observamos también la manera en que los objetivos explícitos de esta política se trasladan al nivel pedagógico de la planificación lingüística, considerando una variedad de textos que manifiestan una intención pedagógica y una clara preocupación por los aspectos lingüísticos en el entrenamiento de los profesionales de la aviación. Finalmente indicamos algunas de las actitudes de los hablantes hacia esta planificación, tomando ejemplos del uso real de la jerga de la aviación en Argentina. Consideramos que existe un sutil conflicto entre la norma lingüística profesional y la norma que los hablantes ejercitan como miembros de una comunidad de habla más amplia. El corpus de textos regulatorios y pedagógicos, así como las interacciones registradas, pertenecen a la región lingüística del español bonaerense en Argentina. Las grabaciones de las interacciones se realizaron con la metodología de participante-observador (Labov 1970), fueron complementadas con notas de campo etnográficas (Duranti 2000) y fueron analizadas desde un punto de vista sociolingüístico (Gumperz 1982a, 1982b), con puntos de contacto con el análisis aplicado del discurso (Stubbs 1983, Gunnarson 2000, Drew y Sorjonen 2000). This paper presents an example of how linguistic policy and language planning take place not only at a national level, but also within definite smaller social environments. In the case of aviation, these linguistic activities present a national and a supranational dimension, and their goal is to establish safe and efficient linguistic uses. We analyze, in the first place, the regulatory instances that can be identified in the realm under study at the international level and in Argentina (Pit Corder 1993, Fasold 1996, Calvet 1997). We observe also the way in which the explicit objectives of this policy are translated to the pedagogical level of language planning. Therefore we consider a variety of texts that manifest a pedagogical intention and a clear concern with linguistic issues in the training of the aeronautical professional. Finally, we evaluate the speakers attitudes towards this planning, taking examples from the real use of aviation jargon in Argentina. We consider there exists a subtle conflict between the professional linguistic norm and the norm the speakers exercise as members of a wider speech community. The corpus of regulatory and pedagogical texts, as well as the interactions registered, belong to the bonaerense spanish linguistic region in Argentina. The interactions were recorded with the participant-observer methodology (Labov 1970) complemented with ethnographic field notes (Duranti 2000), and were analyzed from a sociolinguistic point of view (Gumperz 1982a, 1982b) with contact points with applied discourse analysis (Stubbs 1983, Gunnarson 2000, Drew y Sorjonen 2000).
