El cuerpo herido: Algunas notas sobre poesía y enfermedad

Abstract

La mayoría de los cuerpos heridos o enfermos, innumerables y vulnerados en las más variadas formas posibles, no llegan a trascender, como individuos, al espacio social en el que viven. Sin embargo, algunos cuerpos heridos -a rastras con su dolor, su enfermedad y su impotencia– son asediados por la palabra, se vuelven objetos de una construcción cultural que los va transformando en poemas, representaciones simbólicas, palabra viva. Este ensayo propone un recorrido por la obra póstuma de tres poetas chilenos; tres estéticas; tres opciones escriturales frente a la enfermedad y a la muerte que ponen ante nuestra vista no tanto “el cuerpo herido”, sino las palabras que lo representan y lo describen. Toda enfermedad, toda herida, es una transgresión de las fronteras del espacio corporal, más o menos dolorosa y más o menos profunda, que “abre” el espacio clausurado del cuerpo. Por eso, resulta muy difícil leer los poemas de Diario de muerte, de Enrique Lihn, de Veneno de escorpión azul de Gonzalo Millán o los que integran La universidad desconocida de Roberto Bolaño, sin pensar en las manos humanas y sus modos de lidiar con el dolor.

Most of the wounded and sick bodies, countless and hurt in the most varied ways possible, fail to transcend, as individuals, the social space in which they live. However, some wounded bodies –in towwith their pain, disease and helplessness– can be surrounded by words. Then, they become objects of a cultural construction that transformed them into poems, symbolic representations, living words. This paper works with the posthumous work of three Chilean poets, three aesthetics, three scriptural choices against disease and death. This poems show us not “the wounded body” but the words that represent and describe it. Every illness, every wound, is a transgression of the boundaries of the body space, more or less painful and more or less deep, which “opens” the closed space of the body. Therefore, it is very difficult to read Diario de muerte by Enrique Lihn, Veneno de escorpión azul by Gonzalo Millán or La universidad desconocida by Roberto Bolaño, without thinking of the human hand and its ways of dealing with the pain.
