dc.description.abstract
dc.description.abstract
The article deals with the human disappointment that, against the Renaissance “lightness”, explores the latin narrative of Leon Battista Alberti (1404-1472), Momus sive de Principe. God Momo, son of the night in Hesiod and mordant censor in Luciano, points out in Alberti’s works the failing of the social order through the criticism to their main a*ors. His comments on power are acute and sometimes damage the roots of the so-called “humanism”. Infused with the ancient cynicism, Alberti’s Momo finds two vital answers in front of a world whose values of justice and honesty have collapsed: the art of simulation and the laud of the vagrant. From these, Alberti explores the humankind’s ruins and tenuous victories.
