Dieta de la lagartija arenícola Liolaemus laurenti (Sauria: Liolaemidae) en un bioma de desierto de Argentina

Abstract

Se estudió, en un período anual de actividad, la dieta de una población de Liolaemus laurenti en el noroeste de Argentina. Los objetivos fueron determinar la composición de la dieta, la diversidad trófica y las variaciones de la misma entre sexos, y entre estación seca y húmeda. A partir del análisis de 42 contenidos estomacales se determinó que las hormigas constituyen la categoría- presa principal de la dieta de la población, comprenden el 93.15% de todas las presas presentes, además fue la categoría más frecuente (100% de los contenidos estomacales). Esta especie también se alimenta de otros insectos y quelicerados. La diversidad trófica aumenta durante la estación húmeda siendo siempre mayor en las hembras. Las diferencias estacionales podrían atribuirse a que en ecosistemas áridos las precipitaciones afectan fuertemente la productividad primaria, y por tanto la oferta de recursos para los artrópodos en general y, por consiguiente, para sus predadores.

The feeding habits of a population of Liolaemus laurenti in northwest Argentina were studied in an annual period of activity. The objectives of the study were to determine the composition of the diet of the species, the trophic diversity and variations between sexes and among dry and wet seasons. From the analysis of 42 stomach contents, it was determined that ants constitute the main prey category of the diet, they comprise 93.15% of all present prey; it was also the most frequent category (100% of stomach contents).
