Algunos debates en torno a la relación entre estructura productivo-tecnológica, inserción internacional y desarrollo económico

Abstract

En este trabajo se recorrerán algunas teorías surgidas a partir de la segunda posguerra con el fin de explicar las causas del atraso económico y social de ciertas regiones de planeta en comparación con otras. En particular, haremos hincapié en el rol que cuatro teorías (el industrialismo, el neoschumpeterianismo, el neoestructuralismo y el neoliberalismo) han dado a la relación entre estructura productivo-tecnológica, inserción internacional y desarrollo económico. Si en las tres primeras, con diferentes matices, la estructura productivo-tecnológica no es neutral en términos de crecimiento de largo plazo y, por ende, de desarrollo, en la última sí. De este modo, al final de este estudio se realizará un balance crítico de las teorías expuestas.

In this paper we revisit some theories emerged after the WWII in order to explain the causes of economic and social backwardness between different regions of the world. In particular, we will emphasize the role that four theories (industrialism, neoschumpeterianism, neostructuralism and neoliberalism) have given to the relationship between productive-technological structure, international insertion and economic development. While the productive-technological structure under the first three theories is not neutral in terms of long-term growth and hence economic development, it is indeed so in the last one. Thus, at the end of this paper, a critical balance of these theories is performed.
