Espacio y tiempo: materialidades simbólicas en el arte coreográfico contemporáneo

Abstract

El arte coreográfico, en tanto lenguaje del "cuerpo en movimiento", tiene como materialidades específicas al cuerpo, espacio y tiempo. En este ensayo se reflexiona acerca del tratamiento que el coreógrafo contemporáneo realiza, puntualmente, de la materia espacial y temporal en su creación. Se concibe al espacio y al tiempo no sólo como "objetualidades" que constituyen el lenguaje coreográfico, sino también como entramados simbólicos que conllevan remisiones significativas y hacen de este lenguaje del arte una instancia comunicativa. Así, al tratar con símbolos socialmente instituidos, el coreógrafo no sólo debate en un campo meramente estético sino fuertemente social. Las reflexiones aquí reunidas derivan no sólo de varios años de trabajo teórico en el campo de las artes escénicas coreográficas, sino también de mi experiencia como bailarina y performer.

Choreographic Art, as language of "body-in-motion", has its specific materiality in body, space and time. In this essay, the author aims to reflect on how the contemporary choreographer plays, specifically, with the spatial and temporal dimensions in his choreographic creation. She conceives space and time not only as materials that constitute the choreographic language, but also as symbolic frameworks that involve significant remissions and therefore, communication. For this reason, when dealing with socially instituted symbols, the choreographer not only moves in the aesthetic field but also in the social one. The reflections gathered here come from several years of theoretical work in the field of performing arts, but also from my experience as a dancer and performer.
