Del golpe de Estado a la recuperación militar de Malvinas: la lógica belicista de la dictadura argentina

Abstract

La decisión de la tercera Junta Militar de recuperar las islas Malvinas en abrilde 1982 se inserta en la continuidad de un relato histórico que había comenzadoen 1833 con la usurpación británica del archipiélago. Sin embargo, paracomprender los sucesos que derivaron en la única guerra de la que participóArgentina en el siglo XX es necesario analizar la lógica de la dictadura que habíatomado el poder con el golpe de Estado de 1976. Este trabajo se propone interpretarla forma en que la dictadura concebía el ejercicio del poder y analizar dequé manera esa lógica se traduce en la decisión de recuperar las islas. La guerrade 1982 encuentra su correlato en la causa nacional de Malvinas, pero esta noparece ser más que una excusa para el desarrollo de la representación belicistade la política dictatorial.

The decision of the Third Military Junta to recover the Malvinas Islands in April 1982 is inserted in the continuum of a historical account that had begun in 1833 with the British occupation of the archipelago. However, in order to understand the events that led to the only war in which Argentina participated in the twentieth century, it is necessary to analyze the logic of the dictatorship that had seized power with the 1976 coup d’état. This paper intends to inter- pret the way in which the dictatorship conceived the exercise of power and to analyze how that logic translates into the decision to recover the islands. The war in 1982 finds its correlate in the national cause of Malvinas, but this seems to be nothing but an excuse for the development of the warlike representation of the dictatorial politics.
