El malestar en la ciudad: política de la verdad y tragedia en la lectura foucaultiana de Edipo Rey

Abstract

Michel Foucault analiza la tragedia Edipo Rey de Sófocles en reiteradas ocasiones a lo largo de una década. Desde la política de la verdad que elabora a inicios de los setenta hasta el gobierno por la verdad del cual se ocupa en sus últimos cursos, la historia de Edipo constituye un caso paradigmático para pensar la relación entre política, verdad y justicia en una genealogía que se remonta a la ciudad griega. Recorriendo estas consideraciones resulta interesante no sólo la manera en que dicha relación puede analizarse en diferentes dimensiones de la trama de la tragedia, sino también las afinidades que pueden entreverse entre ciertas características propias del género y el modo de problematización y los efectos del trabajo del filósofo francés.

Michel Foucault analyzes Sophocles´s tragedy Oedipus Rex in several opportunities over a decade. From the politics of truth that he elaborates in the early seventies, to the government by the truth which is subject of his last lectures, the story of Oedipus represents a paradigmatic case to consider the relationship between politics, truth and justice, in a genealogy that goes back to the greek city. Following the philosopher´s observations it is interesting to notice not only theway in which that relationship can be studied in different dimensions of the tragedy´s plot, but to consider as well the affinities between certain characteristics of the gender and the form of problematization and the effects of the french philosopher´s work.
