Relaciones entre emoción y cognición

Abstract

El objetivo del presente artículo es presentar una revisión descriptiva, aunque no exhaustiva, acerca de las relaciones entre cognición y emoción con el fin de brindar al lector una serie de aproximaciones teóricas y conceptuales acerca de estos tópicos de interés que están en constante evolución en la psicología. Se enumera el avance de las discusiones fundamentales implicadas a lo largo del tiempo y algunas de las posturas terapéuticas derivadas de las mismas.En todos los estudios relacionados con estos temas se puede observar que la respuesta emocional difícilmente puede ser separada de otros procesos mentales y ser tratados como una unidad discreta. Se debe agregar que si bien estos constructos se configuran en estilos relativamente estables a lo largo del tiempo la interpretación de cada situación por parte del sujeto es la que vehiculiza las acciones que se desencadenan. Por ello el futuro de las explicaciones acerca de la afectividad tiene como desafío explicar la interacción entre emoción y cognición, tanto desde el punto de vista normativo,como de sus alteraciones.

This paper aims to present a descriptive review, but not exhaustive, about the relations between cognition and emotion to provide the reader a series of theoretical and conceptual approaches about these constantly evolving topics of interest in psychology. Advances of fundamental discussions involved over time and some of the therapeutic positions derived there from are listed. All the studies related to these topics show that an emotional response can hardly be separated from other mental processes and be treated as a discrete unit. Moreover, although these constructs are set in styles relatively stable over time, it is the interpretation of each situation made by the subject that conveys the actions that are triggered. Therefore, explanations of emotions in the future face the challenge to explain the interaction between emotion and cognition, both from the regulatory point of view, and their alterations.
