Comercio exterior argentino del complejo automotriz (2002-2020): Límites y perspectivas de su inserción internacional

Abstract

En este trabajo, continuación de avances previos, reconstruimos la matriz de comercio exterior del complejo automotriz argentino entre 2002 y 2020, con el objetivo de identificar las secciones más competitivas en términos de exportaciones y las que cuentan con menor capacidad, expresada en déficits comerciales más elevados. A partir de este abordaje, buscamos explicar el vínculo entre la configuración de la balanza comercial con la competitividad por sector. Realizamos una tarea de tipo cuantitativa, sistematizando la estadística relevada del Sistema de Consulta de Comercio Exterior de bienes (INDEC). Nos apoyamos en datos adicionales disponibles en otras bases (como la UNCOMTRADE); además de información brindada por otros investigadores, cámaras o federaciones internacionales. Con ello, detectamos subsectores con déficit o superávit, y evaluamos a su vez el lugar de los principales orígenes y destinos. Buscamos aportar elementos para determinar la evolución del comercio externo de la actividad durante este siglo, evaluando cambios y continuidades.

In this work, a continuation of previous advances, we reconstruct the foreign trade matrix of the Argentine automotive sector between 2002 and 2020, with the objective of identifying the most competitive sections in terms of exports and those with the least capacity, expressed in larger trade deficits. From this approach, we seek to explain the link between the configuration of the trade balance with competitiveness by sector. We carried out a quantitative task, systematizing the statistics collected from the Sistema de Consulta del Comercio Exterior (INDEC). We rely on additional data available in other databases (UNCOMTRADE); in addition to information provided by other researchers, chambers or international federations. With this, we detect subsectors with a comercial deficit or surplus, and evaluate the place of the main origins and destinations. We seek to provide elements to determine the evolution of foreign trade activity during this century, evaluating changes and continuities.
