Ni con la Iglesia ni con el Estado: La sombra del incesto en los folletines de Eduardo Gutiérrez

Abstract

El artículo analiza la tematización del incesto, en dos novelas tempranas de Eduardo Gutiérrez –El tigre del Quequén (1880) y Hormiga Negra (1881)–, como exponente del discurso político contradictorio que la producción del escritor apuntala sobre el 80 argentino. Las disputas entre el aparato estatal en construcción y la Iglesia católica, durante el proceso de laicismo finisecular donde se tensionaban disputas por la administración de poderes en la esfera social, alcanza sorprendentes niveles de contraste y simbiosis en las construcciones imaginarias que ambos folletines rescatan, a partir de la compleja biografía amorosa de sus protagonistas contra-ejemplares.

The article analyzes the thematization of incest in two early novels by Eduardo Gutiérrez –El tigre del Quequén (1880) and Hormiga Negra (1881)–, as an exponent of the contradictory political discourse that the writer’s production underpins on the Argentine 80th. The disputes between the state apparatus under construction and the Catholic Church, during the process of fin-de-siècle secularism where disputes over the administration of powers in the social sphere were in tension, reaches surprising levels of contrast and symbiosis in the imaginary constructions that both serial novels rescue, from the complex love biography of their counter-exemplary protagonists.
