Caracterización petrológica y estructural de la faja de cizalla El Alto, NE de la Sierra de Ancasti, Sierras Pampeanas Orientales de Argentina

Abstract

En el sector NE de la Sierra de Ancasti, en el contacto entre el Complejo Sierra Brava y la Formación Ancasti, se encuentra ubicada una faja de deformación dúctil con orientación NO-SE, constituida por protomilonitas, milonitas y ultramilonitas, cuya distribución y características evidencian dominios de intensidad de deformación interna variable. Las relaciones de campo y el estudio microestructural muestran mecanismos de deformación por cizalla simple dextral, asociada a movimiento compresivo del bloque O (Formación Ancasti) hacia el NE. Según sus características petro-estructurales, se evidencian dos periodos de actividad, uno de condiciones dúctiles desarrollado en un rango de temperaturas de entre 300ºC y 400ºC y otro de menor temperatura, vinculado a la formación de estructuras frágiles y a la retrogradación de la paragénesis mineral, asociado a la exhumación de los niveles corticales. La edad de la deformación dúctil sería post-famatiniana, posiblemente silúrica media y habría continuado hasta el Pérmico, con características frágiles.

Petrological and structural characterization of the El Alto shear zone, NE of the Sierra de Ancasti, Eastern Sierras Pampeanas of Argentina. According to its petro-structural characteristics, two periods of activity are evident, one of ductile-brittle characteristics developed in a temperature range between 300ºC and 400ºC and another of lower temperature, linked to the formation of brittle structures and the retro gradation of mineral paragenesis. associated with the exhumation of cortical levels. The age of the ductile-brittle deformation would be post-Famatinian, possibly middle Silurian, and would have continued until the Permian, with brittle characteristics.
