Sin madre concebidos: El absoluto patriarcal

Abstract

La mitología griega presenta dos casos en los que Zeus, el gran fecundador, también se embaraza y gesta. Atenea nace directamente de la cabeza del padre, ya conformada como adulta e incluso vestida. Dioniso, cuya madre muere encinta, es colocado por Zeus en su muslo para que termine allí la gestación. Atenea será la asexuada virgen sin mezcla, de nítida y madura individuación, que da nombre a la gran ciudad; Dioniso, en contraste, el afeminado dios de la ambigüedad, de la disolución embriagadora del vino, el siempre recién nacido para sus nodrizas las bacantes, el de las metamorfosis y la fuerza salvaje de los montes. La tensión entre ambas divinidades permite rastrear la fantasía oculta en que se funda el régimen patriarcal de Occidente: la de prescindir de la mujer para la reproducción de la especie.

Greek mythology presents two cases in which Zeus, the great fertiliser, also becomes pregnant and gestated. Athena is born directly from her father's head, already formed as an adult and even clothed. Dionysus, whose mother dies pregnant, is placed by Zeus on his thigh so that the gestation can end there. Athena will be the asexual virgin without mixture, of clear and mature individuation, who gives her name to the great city; Dionysus, in contrast, the effeminate god of ambiguity, of the intoxicating dissolution of wine, the ever newborn for his wet nurses the Bacchantes, the god of metamorphosis and the wild strength of the mountains. The tension between the two divinities allows us to trace the hidden fantasy on which the patriarchal regime of the West is based: that of dispensing with women for the reproduction of the species.
