Temporalidad cíclica y territorio móvil : Los trabajadores forestales del nordeste argentino

Abstract

En este trabajo se analizan los ciclos laborales de los peones forestales que se trasladan desde dos departamentos de la provincia de Misiones –Eldorado y General Belgrano- al nordeste entrerriano. Esta mano de obra es empleada por contratistas que prestan servicios en plantaciones eslabonadas a industrias celulósicas y maderera para realizar diferentes tareas forestales. Dichos ciclos se analizan en relación con los atributos del trabajador (edad, posición que ocupa en el hogar, saberes y habilidades, etcétera), con las oportunidades de empleo de los mercados locales y extra-locales y el desempeño de intermediarios (contratistas punteros). Los recorridos, sustentados en la red de vínculos de los obreros entre sí y con los contratistas, han ido construyendo con el tiempo y a lo largo de un territorio, “la ruta a Concordia”. En este análisis se utiliza una metodología cualitativa basada en la realización de entrevistas en profundidad a trabajadores en el lugar adonde migran (nordeste de Entre Ríos) y, posteriormente, en sus hogares de origen en la provincia de Misiones.

Antique timber extractive activities in the province of Misiones and the steady expansion of surface implanted with pine facilitated the process of training of forest workers. However, since two decades ago, a large number of forestry workers moves several times a year to the Northeast of the province of Entre Ríos and South of Corrientes, in search of employment. This paper focuses on labour cycles of forest workers who move from two departments of the province of Misiones - Eldorado-General Belgrano in the Northeast of Entre Ríos. This workforce is employed by contractors who provide services in plantation integrated cellulose and wood industries to perform different tasks forest. These cycles are discussed in relation to the attributes of the worker (age, position it occupies in the home, knowledge and skills, etc.), with the employment opportunities of local and extra-local markets and the performance of intermediaries (labour contractors). The itineraries, supported by the network of links among themselves and with forest contractors, have been building over time and over a territory, "the route to Concordia". This research uses a qualitative methodology based on in-depth interviews with workers at the place of destination of the migration (Northeast of Entre Rios) and, subsequently, in their homes in the province of Misiones.
