Uso de lenguas y uniformización de la escritura en revistas científicas argentinas

Abstract

Ante la situación de supremacía actual del inglés como lengua de la ciencia y de minorización lingüística del español, se estudian los documentos editoriales y los artículos publicados entre 2016 y 2020 de veinte revistas argentinas, vigentes e indexadas, del área de las ciencias agrarias y veterinarias. Por un lado, se observa que el proceso de minorización no se produce sistemática ni unívocamente, sino de modo paulatino y dispar. Se expone cómo ciertos criterios de evaluación del sistema científico pueden afectar la difusión de revistas locales y regionales en español y cómo el tópico “publicar o perecer” interpela a los autores, pero también a estas revistas. Por otro lado, se detecta que, en pos de regular la escritura, la sección “directrices para autores” combina rasgos prototípicos de la escritura científica (precisión, concisión, claridad) con criterios bibliométricos y requisitos de acceso veloz en buscadores digitales. El trabajo se inscribe en un enfoque glotopolítico.

In the context of the current supremacy of English as the language of science and of the linguistic minoritization of Spanish, editorial documents and articles published between 2016 and 2020 in twenty indexed Argentine journals in the area of agricultural and veterinary sciences are studied. On the one hand, it can be seen that the process of minoritization is not produced systematically or unequivocally, but in a progressive and uneven way. It is revealed how some criteria of evaluation of the scientific system can influence the dissemination of local and regional journals in Spanish and how the topic “publish or perish” appeals to the authors but also to those magazines. On the other hand, it is detected that, with the aim of regulating writing, the section “guidelines for authors” articulates prototypical features of scientific writing (accuracy, conciseness, clarity) with bibliometric criteria and requirements of quick access in digital searchers. This paper is framed within a glottopolitical approach.
