Complejo exportador pesquero argentino en las primeras décadas del siglo XXI

Abstract

El artículo pretende dar cuenta de las transformaciones más significativas que atravesó elcomplejo exportador pesquero argentino en las primeras décadas del siglo XXI. Más allá de lahistórica especialización argentina en productos agropecuarios y de la profundización de estainserción producida en los últimos años, las exportaciones del sector han recuperado importanciahasta representar el 3% de la canasta exportadora nacional. La recuperación puede explicarse,sobre todo, a partir de la creciente importancia del langostino. En este sentido, el incremento delas capturas de este crustáceo provocó el desplazamiento del centro de la escena pesquera a lamerluza común y al calamar. Más allá de este cambio sustancial, se produjeron variacionesrespecto a los principales mercados de destino, destacándose la consolidación del mercado chinopor sobre los ibéricos.Para el abordaje de las principales transformaciones se trabajará con fuentes de datos secundarios, principalmente originados en los Informes de Economía Pesquera y los Informes de Coyuntura elaborados por la Subsecretaría de Pesca de la Nación.

The article aims to account for the most significant transformations that the Argentine fishing export complex went through in the first decades of the 21st century. Beyond the historical Argentine specialization in agricultural products and the deepening of this insertion produced in recent years, the sector's exports have regained enough importance to represent 3% of the national export basket. The recovery can be explained, above all, by means the growing importance of prawn. In this sense, the increase in catches of this crustacean caused a shift in the focus of fishing away from common hake and squid. Beyond this substantial change, there were variations with respect to the main destination markets, with the consolidation of the Chinese market over the Iberian one. To address the main transformations, secondary data sources will be used, mainly originating from the Fisheries Economy Reports and the Situation Reports prepared by the National Undersecretary of Fisheries.
