A cincuenta años de Las venas abiertas de América Latina: Un análisis del estilo y la estrategia de escritura de Eduardo Galeano

Abstract

Esta investigación analiza el estilo y la estrategia de escritura de Las venas abiertas de América Latina, obra que convirtió a Eduardo Galeano en una pluma de referencia dentro del campo cultural del continente. El objetivo general es identificar las claves estéticas y el enfoque ideológico al que apostó el autor para componer un texto que suele ser asociado al género ensayístico, pero que aquí situaremos en la tradición de las escrituras panfletarias. Precisamente, la propuesta de análisis de la obra parte de la hipótesis de que su impacto en la década de 1970, y su vigencia a lo largo del tiempo, se vinculan tanto a su temática y su perspectiva ideológica como al despliegue de una estrategia de escritura que, a cincuenta años de su publicación, todavía provoca efectos de reconocimiento y complicidad en sus lectores. A los fines de identificar esas claves, no sólo se utilizará como fuente el emblemático libro, sino también distintos textos periodísticos y ficcionales que Galeano publicó en aquella época, junto con entrevistas realizadas al autor y las escasas investigaciones que han abordado su obra y su biografía.

This research analyzes the literary style and writing strategy of The open veins of Latin America, the work that made Eduardo Galeano a leading writer in the cultural field of the continent. The objective is to identify the aesthetic keys and the ideological approach that the author chose to compose a text that is usually associated with the essay genre, but that we will place here in the tradition of pamphlet writing. Precisely, the analysis of the book starts from the hypothesis that its impact in the 1970s, and its validity over time, are linked both to its theme and ideological perspective, as well as to the deployment of a writing strategy that, fifty years after its publication, still causes recognition and complicity effects in the readers. In order to identify these keys, not only the emblematic book will be used as a source, but also different journalistic and fictional texts that Galeano published at that time, together with interviews with the author and a few investigations that have addressed his work and biography
